I bought a cheap hoof stand from a farm show and it broke in two weeks

It was a no-name brand stand that cost $85 at the Ohio Equine Affair. The leg joint snapped clean through while I was working on a draft cross, and I had to finish the job holding the hoof up myself. That cost me a full day's pay, about $400, because my back was so sore I couldn't take my next appointment. I should have just spent the extra $150 on the good one I've used for years. Has anyone found a mid-priced stand that actually holds up?

Oh man, that's the worst. I once tried to save a buck on a garden hose reel and it exploded on the first use, soaked me and my neighbor. Felt like the universe charging me a stupid tax. For hoof stands, that extra $150 sounds like a back pain insurance plan at this point.

Wait, it soaked your neighbor too, @torres.sage?

Nah, I gotta disagree with @torres.sage on this one. My cheap hose reel has been fine for years, and I'm not gentle with it. Sometimes you just get a bad unit, not a bad price. That extra cash for the hoof stand could go towards better boots instead.
