I dropped $800 on a new digital hoof mapping system and it's been a total headache.

Call the company tech support, they usually have a guy who can walk you through the setup.

Our old farrier just uses a block of wood and a marker, and his trims are perfect. That tech support guy is probably just reading from a script written by someone who has never touched a horse. You end up paying for all this data that just tells you what you already know by looking at the hoof. It feels like they make these things complicated on purpose so you keep calling them for help.

Tech support is probably just a guy reading the same manual you threw across the barn. My printer has fewer error codes than this thing. You spend all that money just to get a machine that tells you the horse's foot is, in fact, still a foot. Might as well have bought a really expensive level.
