TIL my local equestrian center went corporate on farriers
They brought in some big chain from the city and cut all the independents loose. It's put three of my buddies out of steady jobs. No consultation, just a notice on the gate.

Ugh, that's so short-sighted. Morgan574 is totally right about the stress and missed signs, especially for the older horses who really need that familiar touch. It's a fast way to ruin a good barn's reputation.

Three farriers out of work means three less people who know the quirks of every hoof in that barn. Horses get stressed with new handlers, and a chain outfit might not catch early signs of a limp. Who's gonna notice if a horse starts favoring a leg during trim?

How do you think this affects the horses' long-term health, especially like @gibson.holly said with the older ones? Are we looking at more injuries down the line?
