My thrift store jacket project finally came together after three tries

I found this oversized denim jacket at a Goodwill in Springfield for $8 last fall. The first two times I tried to tailor it, the sleeves bunched up weirdly. Yesterday I used a different stitch on my machine, a simple straight stitch with a longer length, and it laid flat. The whole thing took about six hours spread over a week. Anyone have a better method for taking in denim sleeves without that bunching?

Oh nice! I've heard using a walking foot helps a ton with thick fabric like that.

Sweet, glad you got it to work! I've found that longer stitch is key for denim because it lets the thick fabric move a bit. What kind of thread weight did you use?
