Serious question, has anyone else seen the shift back to heavy denim?

I was looking at my old design sketches from 2018, and everything was about light, stretchy, comfortable jeans. Now my current mood board is full of stiff, 14-ounce raw denim and workwear shapes. I think streetwear's move into high fashion over the last two years caused it. Do you think this heavier fabric trend has real staying power, or is it just a reaction?

Yeah, I bought a pair of those stiff ones last week. I've been walking around like I've got two boards strapped to my legs.

It's not just fashion, it's a total vibe change. We spent years in soft clothes at home and now we want to feel grounded. Heavy denim feels real and solid in a way that thin fabric doesn't. It's an answer to how flimsy and digital everything feels lately. That need for something physical and tough might outlast any trend cycle.

Wait, you ever see someone put on a pair of stiff jeans and just stand differently? My friend got some raw denim last month and it was like watching a whole mood shift. She said exactly what you're saying, @alice_kim, about feeling solid after years in pajamas. She kept talking about how the weight of the fabric made her stop slouching at her desk, like it was armor against all the screen time. Honestly, watching her break those jeans in made me get it way more than any trend article could.

My cousin wore the same pair of stiff Levi's for three months straight to break them in. I used to think it was just a weird hobby for denim heads. But after reading this, I get it now. It's not about the pants, it's about wanting to feel like a real person again after so much time feeling soft and shapeless. Tbh, I might need to find something with some weight to it, just to see if it changes my own mood.
