TIL those weird 'gorpcore' hiking pants are actually genius for city wear

I saw a designer in Chicago last year wearing those technical pants with all the pockets and thought it was a joke... until I tried a pair for a rainy day. The fabric is tough, they dry in like 20 minutes, and you can actually carry stuff. Anyone found a good brand that doesn't look like you're about to summit a mountain?

Dave's a good guy but he talks about those pants like they cured his back pain. They're just stretchy khakis that cost more than my last pair of work boots. I tried a pair on once and yeah they're comfy but for that price I expected them to fold my laundry too. Not sure a pair of pants needs its own fan club.
