Found out the world's longest fence is over 3,400 miles long

I was reading about the Dingo Fence in Australia and it blew my mind that it's that long. Makes my 200-foot backyard installs feel pretty small. Anyone else know a crazy fence fact?

Got me thinking how we build these huge barriers for one specific problem. We see it with garden fences to keep out rabbits or that plastic edging to stop grass from a flower bed. It's like our first instinct is always to draw a line and say "you stay on that side." There's probably a simpler way but we just default to walls and fences.

Honestly, the real question is who had to measure that entire thing. Some poor soul just walking for months with a really long tape measure. It's the ultimate "my neighbor's dog keeps getting in my yard" solution, just scaled up to a continental level. We really do see a problem and immediately start pricing lumber, don't we.

Yeah, @norathomas is right about that default to walls. We see a rabbit and our brains just go straight to "time to build a small picket fortress." The dingo fence is just that same thought, but for a government with a really, really big budget and a lot of empty land.
