Honestly, my brand new post driver's head flew off on the third swing in a client's yard in Boise.

That's a post pounder, not a post driver. A driver is for screws. Those pounders are beasts. Seen a few shear at the weld on cheap ones. Might be worth checking if the manufacturer will warranty it, that's a pretty clear defect.

Ugh, been there. That weld looks super clean, not like a normal fatigue crack. Definitely call the company with your order number. I had a similar break on a different brand and they just asked for a photo, sent a whole new unit no questions. Worth a shot before you go buying another one.

Actually, that's just what happens with normal wear and tear on a tool. You're putting massive force through a piece of metal, so a failure after a few uses isn't that shocking. Calling it a clear defect is a real stretch.
