Showerthought: I was at the old city park in Springfield and saw a cedar fence that's been up since the 80s, still standing straight.

My neighbor's redwood fence from 1990 is still perfect. He used a concrete base and sealed it every five years.

I mean, that concrete base thing is key. My uncle tried to save money by just sinking posts in dirt and the whole thing leaned like the Tower of Pisa after two winters. Some things you just can't skip.
