Spent $80 on a post hole digger attachment for my drill

It snapped the auger bit on the second hole in our rocky Colorado soil. What's your go-to method for getting through tough ground?

Ever try a proper post hole digger with the two handles? Those drill attachments are honestly junk for real dirt like ours. @reesemiller has the right idea starting with a bar, but you need the right tool for the main job too.

Ever try just using a digging bar first? I basically pre-drill with a steel rod before anything else touches the ground.

Yo @reesemiller, that's a solid tip. I used to just go at it with a shovel and wreck my back lol. Started using a digging bar last year to break up the hard clay in my yard first, and it's a total game changer. Makes the actual digging way faster and saves the shovel blade from getting all bent. Honestly can't believe I didn't try it sooner.
