Bought a cheap moisture meter for a glue-down job and it cost me a $500 redo

I was doing a big glue-down vinyl plank install in a basement and my old meter broke, so I grabbed a $40 one from the hardware store to check the slab. The thing gave me a false low reading, I glued it all down, and a week later the client called about huge bubbles. Had to rip it all out and buy new material. What's a good, reliable brand that won't lie to you?

Honestly @elliotadams, that's the wake-up call right there. Cheap gear gives you cheap data, and then you're making choices based on a lie. Learned that the hard way myself.

Heard the pros at the supply house swear by Wagner meters, but man are they pricey.
