Studio managers who rush apprentices through production are killing real skill growth

My boss only cares about how many vases we finish each day, so new guys never get to practice shaping or color work properly. It feels like we're training a generation of button pushers instead of artists who understand the material. How do you balance making money with teaching the craft right?

Rushing them now just means crappy vases later, boss.

Have you ever rushed a batch of pottery and ended up with a bunch of cracked pieces? I pushed too fast on some bowls last year and the glaze turned out all bumpy and weird. What helped me was setting a strict drying time between steps, no matter how behind I felt. It meant telling a client their order would be late by two days, but the bowls came out perfect. That one delay saved me from having to remake everything, and they still order from me now.
