PSA: That remote lakeside cabin I used to visit is getting crowded now

Back in the day, you could drive up and have the whole place to yourself, with maybe one other car in the lot. These days, I see online reviews and photos pointing everyone there, so it's packed on nice days. The peace is gone, and there's often trash left behind near the shore. Just a heads up if you're looking for a quiet escape, you might want to dig deeper for spots.

Ugh that hits home. sean_johnson16 is right about the instagram effect turning every quiet trail into a photo line. But is it really just about people sharing spots online, or is the bigger thing that folks don't want to put in the work to find their own places anymore? It feels like everyone just wants the easy, pre-approved location now instead of exploring.

Yeah that's the sad pattern with so many secret spots now. It feels like every quiet place gets found, posted online, and turned into a circus within a couple years. My buddy showed me a small hiking trail last fall that was empty, and now his Instagram feed is full of people taking the exact same photo at the overlook. Makes you want to stop sharing locations altogether, even with friends. The good hideouts these days are the ones you have to work way harder to reach.

That exact cabin was my first real camping trip ten years ago. More people going just means more folks getting to enjoy the woods, even if it's a bit louder. Found my current favorite spot because someone else posted a picture, so it goes both ways.
