Three years ago I bought a house in Riverdale with original knob and tube wiring and every contractor since has told me it needs to go. Last week I had an old-school electrician in to quote a new light fixture and he said the wiring is actually in good shape and safer than some of the new stuff people install wrong. Is he right or is this a liability risk I'm ignoring?
I was redoing the baseboards in my east end bungalow last weekend and kept making a mess with the caulk gun. My dad came by, saw me struggling, and told me to cut the tip at a 45 degree angle instead of straight across. Then he said to puncture the seal from the inside with a long nail, not the little pokey thing on the gun. Made the bead come out super smooth and even, no more wiping up excess. Has anyone else got a tip like this that seems obvious but nobody tells you?
Getting ready to list my condo and need to freshen up the walls to make it look brighter. Looking for an affordable painter who does decent work. Who did you guys use for your places?
