Had a real talk with my brother about why I left Instagram
Last week my brother asked why I stopped posting and I told him it was because I was tired of feeling like I had to prove my life was interesting. He said 'so you quit because you were worried what people thought?' and it hit me hard because he was right. I was still caring about their opinions even after I left. I told him I deleted the apps 8 months ago for mental space but I wasn't actually free until I stopped checking who liked what. Has anyone else realized they were still hooked on the validation even after they quit posting?

Eight months and you're still not free? That's brutal.

Eight months and still not free? Guess I'm a slow learner. Took me about a year to stop instinctively reaching for my phone to check if anyone liked my last post.
