Pro tip: The thrift store dress vs the new one, I learned the hard way in Tulsa

I spent $60 on a brand new dress for a wedding last June and it fit weird, then I grabbed a $7 one from Goodwill on a whim and it was perfect. The difference was the fabric, the new one was stiff polyester, the vintage one had actual give. Now I always hit thrift stores first for anything with a zipper, has anyone else found that older clothes just fit better?
