Can we talk about how I wasted 6 months on Nike running shoes before switching to Brooks

I used to think Nike was the only brand worth wearing for running. Bought 3 pairs over 6 months at the Dick's in Arlington. Kept getting shin splints and blamed my form. Then a guy at the running store made me try on Brooks Ghost 15. First run felt like pillows on my feet. No shin pain after a week. I was dead wrong about what a good running shoe feels like. Anyone else stick with a brand way too long out of habit?

Stick with Nike for years just because I liked the look of their shoes, even though my knees always hurt after long runs. Finally switched to Hokas after a friend basically forced me to try them, and it felt like moving from concrete to clouds. Guess we all learn the hard way that brand loyalty can mess with our feet.

Concrete to clouds" is the perfect way to put it @kimreed. I had the same thing with Nike Vomero's. Loved how they looked but my shins were killing me after 5 miles. Finally got some Brooks and it was like my legs finally unclenched. Style tax is real and our joints pay for it.
