My fridge label project made calorie counting less of a chore

I bought a cheap label maker and tagged all my condiments and leftovers with their serving sizes and calories. Seeing the numbers right there stops me from mindlessly grabbing extra mayo or cheese. It took an afternoon but now my lunch prep is way more informed. Honestly, such a simple fix for something I used to hate doing.

Man that just sounds exhausting to live with. Having to see those numbers every single time you open the fridge would take all the joy out of food for me. It turns every meal into a math problem you can't escape. Sometimes you just gotta eat a reasonable portion and trust yourself instead of treating your kitchen like a lab.

Funny how tracking food can backfire too. You start focusing on hitting numbers instead of listening to what your body actually wants. It can make you ignore hunger cues just to fit the daily math.

Totally agree with you, @ivancooper, it's easy to get stuck on the numbers. I found it helps to set a flexible range for calories (or just stop counting for a day or two) instead of a single strict number. That way you can listen to your body without feeling like you failed the math test, which is way less stressful.
