Miniature food realism vs. nostalgia, which way do you build?

I've been making dollhouse food for about 2 years now, and I keep hitting this same fork in the road. Do I go for ultra realistic tiny pancakes with perfect syrup drips using resin and acrylics, or do I lean into the faded, slightly wonky charm of 1950s plastic food? I picked realism for my last project, a full breakfast set, and it took me 14 hours to get the toast crust right. But honestly, the vintage style pieces I've seen online feel more alive to me, like they have a story. My partner says the realistic stuff is impressive but the old stuff is what makes people smile. I'm starting my next build, a tiny diner counter, and I can't decide which direction to go. Does anyone else struggle with this, or do you just pick a lane and stick with it?
