I finally realized why ceramic makes my coffee ritual better
I used to drink coffee from any mug I grabbed. Then I tried a ceramic cup from my pottery class. The heat stays in longer, and the handle fits my hand just right. It turns my quick coffee into a slow, nice moment. I see now that pottery adds a personal touch to simple things. Even the color of the glaze makes me happy when I sip. It's funny how a small change in what you use can lift your day.

Actually, ceramic loses heat faster than most people think.

My buddy learned this the hard way last winter. He poured hot coffee into his favorite ceramic mug and left it on the counter for a few minutes. When he came back, it was already lukewarm, barely any heat left. He was shocked because he thought ceramic would keep things warm longer. Now he uses a different type of cup for his morning brew, something that holds heat better. It really makes you realize how fast that material can cool down...
