My solar-powered smart garden monitor killed my tomatoes

I bought this sensor to water my plants using solar power and local weather updates. It was meant to be eco-friendly and reduce water waste. The thing shut off watering because it thought it rained, but my gauge was dry. Now I'm out a crop and questioning all my green tech choices.

Maybe we're overthinking the whole plant thing...

Honestly plants are just green things that sit there. People act like owning a monstera is some huge life achievement. It's not that deep, let's move on.

Actually, saw a piece about how plant care became a whole trend during lockdowns. It said for many people, keeping plants alive gave a sense of control when everything else was chaotic. But does that mean we're assigning too much meaning to simple greenery? The article pointed out that social media turned basic plant parenting into a performance, which kinda proves the point.
