Oh wow, chewing is totally the unsung hero of spice endurance. I learned this the hard way after treating a Carolina Reaper like a race to swallow, which just funneled all that heat straight down. These days I chew like I'm analyzing each bite, and it's embarrassing but effective.

Chewing as analysis, that's a method I've reluctantly adopted too. @noah_kelly60, when you say you're analyzing each bite, are you consciously breaking down the pepper's components or just trying to endure? I've wondered if the act of chewing itself stimulates more saliva, which might dilute the capsaicin. Have you found any tricks to manage the initial shock when the heat first hits?
