A disagreement with my co-founder over a new feature led to a real talk about our startup's vision. How do you handle those tough chats?

Read an article once about going back to your original mission statement during those fights. It helps cut through the feature debate and get back to why you started the thing. Ever try that?

Yeah, it works as a forcing function. If a new feature doesn't line up with the core mission, you have clear blood in the water.

Man, I see this everywhere, not just startups. It's like when you buy a car for good gas mileage but then keep adding heavy off-road gear. @the_miles is right about the mission statement. It's the only thing that stops you from going on autopilot and wrecking the original point. You need that anchor.
