My breaking point with software that updates itself into oblivion

I just spent three hours troubleshooting because the latest update to my design software removed a feature I use daily. It's not the first time, every few months, something essential gets buried or deleted. The company says it's for 'improvement,' but it feels like change for change's sake. I've talked to colleagues, and they're equally frustrated but afraid to speak up because everyone seems to love 'innovation.' For example, the new UI is so cluttered that simple tasks now take twice as long. This constant disruption is killing my workflow, and I think we need to push back against mandatory updates that don't add real value.

Are we just accepting degradation as the cost of innovation?

Change for change's sake is exactly how I'd describe the last update to my video editing software. They moved all the export settings into a nested menu that takes four clicks to reach, and I swear it's just to show they're doing something. @adam_jenkins is onto something with the degradation question, because my render times have actually increased with each 'optimization'. It's like we're paying for the privilege of having our workflows dismantled. I've started delaying updates as long as possible, which probably isn't safe, but here we are.

Ever wonder why no one speaks up?
