Roommate's 11 PM blender ban made sense after I burned my tongue

My roommate in Columbus had this rule about no blender after 11 PM. I thought it was pure control nonsense. Last week I made a smoothie at 11:20, lid slipped, and hot soup base splashed all over my hand. Turns out he used to work nights and had a whole kitchen accident thing. I apologized and now I just prep my fruit the night before. Anyone else have a house rule that clicked after a random accident?
