Put $600 into a backyard greenhouse kit that collapsed in the first windstorm

I bought this fancy greenhouse kit off Amazon back in March, assembled it over a weekend with my brother, and thought I was finally gonna grow tomatoes like a pro. Three weeks later a gust of wind folded the whole thing into a metal pretzel, frame snapped and plastic shredded all over the yard. Anybody else get burned by one of those cheap kits, or am I the only sucker here?

Respectfully, I gotta push back a little. You mentioned it was a cheap Amazon kit and you assembled it with your brother but didn't say anything about anchoring it to the ground or wind rating on the frame. These kits usually need stakes, sandbags, or concrete blocks bolted down, otherwise they're basically just big kites. The cheap ones can work if you overbuild the foundation and keep the vents open during high winds.

Yeah, @logan205 makes a good point, I read you basically gotta bolt those things down or they're gone.

Nah I gotta disagree with you both honestly. The windstorm probably did him a favor, those cheap kits trap heat and turn into a moldy mess anyway. Better off just buying a few raised beds and a simple hoophouse frame that actually has some weight to it.
