There was still like an inch of murky water sitting in the fountain with a few dead leaves floating around. It was kinda eerie seeing it like that, almost like someone just turned off the power and walked away mid afternoon. Has anyone else come across something that felt strangely alive like that in a dead mall?

Every time someone posts pics of that abandoned mall on Central Ave, they call it a Fun Factory. It was actually a Time Out arcade, I know because I went there as a kid in 1994 and still have a token with the name on it. Fun Factory didn't come to Albany until like 2001. It bugs me because there's actual history getting erased every time someone throws the wrong name on it. Anyone else got a local mall detail that everyone misremembers?

The security guard at Valley View Mall who just wanted to talk

I was poking around the old food court at Valley View Mall in Roanoke, Virginia back in 2019, and this security guard about 60 years old walked up. Instead of yelling at me to leave, he pointed to the empty Sbarro and said "my daughter worked that register for three summers, she met her husband there." He ended up walking me through the whole lower level telling me stories about each store. Has anyone else had a guard or employee actually share memories instead of kicking you out?

Everyone says just wear a mask when you go into these places, but I dropped $50 on a real respirator with P100 filters before hitting up this old mall in Ohio. But half those coins are just trash left by the mall workers before it closed, not some magical treasure. It tells you more about how messy the cleanout was than anything cool.
