A security patrol almost caught us at the old Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights
We thought the place was empty, but a guard came around the corner near the old food court. He had a flashlight and was checking doors we had just passed. We had to hide in a broken elevator shaft for over an hour until he left. Has anyone else had a close call there recently?

That sounds way too close for comfort. Piper_reed's story about the stockroom shows how tense it gets in there. Glad you found a spot to wait it out.

Man that radio thing is the worst. Nothing makes you feel more exposed. Like your whole plan could fall apart from one careless noise. Those old stores have way too many loose things waiting to get bumped. Sounds like you guys barely made it.

Totally know that feeling! We got pinned down in the old Sears stockroom last month. The guard's radio was so loud, we could hear him talking about checking our exact spot. My friend almost knocked over a stack of old hangers, and we froze for what felt like forever. That place is way more active than it looks.
