Always thought mall security was a joke until one chased me through the old food court in Dayton

I rolled my eyes at posts about cameras still running in dead malls, but last month a motion sensor triggered a spotlight that lit up the entire KFC. Has anyone else had to actually duck from a real patrol car in one of these places?

Man, I used to be one of those people rolling their eyes at mall security too... but after an old security guard actually chased me through a dead wing of the Cincinnati Mills, I had to change my tune. It wasn't a joke when that spotlight hit me and a real patrol car came screaming into the parking lot, I was genuinely dodging like a fool. Guess I learned the hard way that even in dead malls, those guys are still doing their job...

Getting chased by security is a weird wakeup call isn't it. I had a similar thing happen at a dead mall near me a few years back. It was me and some friends just messing around in an empty corridor and this older guard just appeared out of nowhere. He didn't even yell, just started walking fast at us. We bolted and he actually kept up for a good minute. Made me realize those guys are way more serious than people give them credit for. Nobody is really goofing off after that.
