Spent $40 on a cordless work light and it saved me in a pitch black food court
Went into this old mall outside Tulsa last month, the one with the creepy carousel still standing. Got maybe 30 feet past the entrance and my phone flashlight gave up at 15%. I was about to turn around but remembered I tossed my cheap cordless work light in my bag for another job. Best $40 I ever spent, that thing lit up the whole food court like a stadium. Found a half eaten pretzel from 2009 still on a tray, that alone was worth it. What's the dumbest thing you've bought that actually paid off during an explore?

Whoa hold up, you found a pretzel from 2009? That's wild, but also kinda gross. I gotta say though, that work light sounds clutch, but you're not exactly right about it being a dumb purchase. A cordless work light is like the most practical thing you can own, for exploring or just fixing stuff around the house. It's not dumb, it's just smart. The dumb stuff is like buying those cheap little keychain flashlights that die after one use. Those never pay off. But a real work light? That's a solid investment, not a dumb one. Now if you said you bought a fake plant to bring along for lighting, that would be dumb.
