That dead mall in Albany had an arcade that people keep calling a Fun Factory
Every time someone posts pics of that abandoned mall on Central Ave, they call it a Fun Factory. It was actually a Time Out arcade, I know because I went there as a kid in 1994 and still have a token with the name on it. Fun Factory didn't come to Albany until like 2001. It bugs me because there's actual history getting erased every time someone throws the wrong name on it. Anyone else got a local mall detail that everyone misremembers?

This one time at the Crossgates Mall, there was this little kiosk that sold those weird gel-filled candles, but everyone swears it was a Spencer Gifts. I remember because my mom dragged me past it every weekend and it had that super strong artificial grape smell that always gave me a headache. It drives me crazy when people mix up the small stores like that, idk why it matters so much but it just does.

Oh man, the gel candle kiosks were like the mall version of a fever dream. Right next to the guy selling cheap sunglasses and that one stall that only sold scented erasers that didn't actually erase anything. I swear every mall had at least one of those. Getting the store name wrong is a whole different level of petty annoyance though, like confusing a Dippin' Dots cart with a legitimate ice cream shop. It's the little things that just stick in your craw for no good reason.
