That old security guard at the Galleria who just let me wander

I was poking around the abandoned Galleria in White Plains about 2 years ago, hopping a fence near the old food court entrance. This older security guy, must have been in his 70s, just walked up and asked if I liked the old tile work. He spent 20 minutes telling me which stores were where back in the 80s, even pointed out a faded arcade sign I'd never noticed. Has anyone else ever had a security guard or caretaker actually chat with you instead of kicking you out?

Wait that arcade sign is still there? I gotta go see it before they tear everything down.

Three separate arcades in my area have closed in the last two years. Each time they put up a sign saying "last week" for about six months before the building got demoed. The signs always stay up way longer than the businesses.
