The escalator pit at Granite Run looked like a full city under the mall

I spent a lot of time at Granite Run Mall outside Philly as a kid, so when it finally shut down in 2015 I had to see it. My buddy knew a guy who knew the security schedule, so we went in through a loading dock. The whole lower level was flooded up to my knees, and the escalator pit had old shopping carts, a mattress, and a full rack of clothes still on hangers floating in the water. It felt less like a dead building and more like a sunken ship you could walk around in. Anyone else find weird stuff in the mechanical spaces that makes the place feel more alive than it ever was?
