The old Sears wing at Rolling Oaks Mall had a working carousel in 2009, now it's a wall of black mold

I dug up my old photos from the Rolling Oaks Mall in San Antonio and the difference is nuts. In 2009 there was a two story carousel near the Sears with painted horses and lights that still worked. Last spring I went back and the same spot has water stains running down the glass elevator shaft and a smell I can't describe. The city says a pipe burst in 2014 and nobody shut off the water for 11 days. Anyone else have pics of a mall feature that rotted away way faster than it should have?
