Can we talk about how AI art generators got worse at hands over the last year?
I was looking at some old character designs I made with Midjourney back in early 2023, and the hands were actually pretty decent... maybe a weird finger here or there. I tried the same prompt yesterday and the model gave me a person with seven fingers on one hand and a thumb coming out of a wrist. It feels like the push for more 'creative' and 'abstract' outputs made the basic anatomy way less reliable. Has anyone else noticed this specific step back?

But it's free art, so who cares?

That "free art" line is exactly the kind of thing that bugs me, clairejenkins. It's not just about art. It's this whole idea that if something doesn't cost money, its value doesn't matter. People treat free digital stuff like it's disposable, even when someone put real work into making it. That mindset ends up hurting creators because everyone starts expecting everything for free. It makes it harder for anyone to make a living doing creative work.
