My cousin's AI voice clone got me thinking about consent last night

We were messing around with a free voice cloning tool after dinner, and he made my voice say something I never said. It was funny for a second, then I felt weird about it. He didn't ask before recording my voice, and now I realize how easy it is to fake anyone in 30 seconds with today's tools. We're not famous or anything, but that doesn't mean our voices shouldn't be protected. How do you all handle asking permission when you demo voice AI to friends? Has anyone set rules with family about this?

Man, this hits different when you really stop and think about it. It's like we just gave everyone a copy machine for people's voices without telling anyone. I've noticed we already do this with photos all the time, nobody asks before tagging or sharing a pic, and now it's the same with audio but way creepier because it's not just a moment, it's a fake moment that never happened. I think the real rule should be that if you wouldn't put someone's face on a billboard without asking, you shouldn't clone their voice for a joke either. It's gonna take some getting used to, but we're all gonna have to start treating voices like fingerprints or something.
