Shoutout to the grocery store that finally put an AI checkout system in

I went to the Giant Eagle on Elm Street last Tuesday and they had these new self-checkout kiosks with computer vision that actually work. I put a bag of onions and a carton of milk on the counter and it identified both items before I could even scan them. Has anyone else tried these systems and noticed they cut down on the frustration of hunting for barcodes?

Whoa, bet their AI is secretly judging my onion-to-milk ratio.

Ngl, @ben662, your AI probably already knows you're hiding a pinch of cumin in there too. Honestly, these things are way too smart for their own good. They track everything we type or cook or breathe near a sensor these days. It's creepy but also kind of funny to think about. Tbh, I'd be more worried if it started giving you recipe advice mid-mistake. That's when you know it's judging you for real.
