Visited an AI art gallery in Berlin and left feeling weird about it
I went to this new gallery in Berlin last month that only shows AI generated paintings. The images were beautiful but something felt off after 20 minutes. Every piece was too perfect, no brush texture, no happy accidents. The artist literally typed prompts for each piece while we watched on a screen. How is that different from commissioning a human artist who also takes direction? I asked the guy running it if any of the images had glitches or mistakes and he said no, they delete those. Am I the only one who thinks AI art loses something when it filters out all the human errors?

My aunt used to paint these wild abstract things where she'd accidentally drop paint and then build the whole piece around the stain. She said the mistakes were the only part worth keeping. Can't imagine deleting something like that on purpose.

Your aunt just dropped paint and called it a keeper? That's a whole different level of artistic courage right there. Most people would be grabbing a paper towel in a panic, not stepping back to admire the accident. She sounds like she was onto something really freeing.
