Walked into an old record store and saw AI sorting vinyl by condition

I stopped by this tiny shop in Portland last weekend, the kind that smells like dust and old cardboard. The owner was running a little camera scanner over each record sleeve, and he told me it uses AI to grade the cover and vinyl condition down to like a 1-10 scale. He said it cut his sorting time from 4 hours a day to maybe 30 minutes. I watched it flag a scratch on a Beatles album I would have totally missed, and honestly it blew my mind a little. Made me think about how much manual work AI is quietly taking over in these niche spaces, you know? Has anyone else spotted AI creeping into weird old-school businesses like this?

Man, that's honestly kind of cool and a little sad at the same time.

Is it though? Seems like a stretch, @phoenix29.

Ha, @phoenix29 nailed it - cool and sad is basically the soundtrack of 2024, right? Next thing you know the AI will be haggling over the price of a scratched Zeppelin album.
