Warning: I saw a demo in Austin where a deepfake voice clone tricked a bank's verification system.

The presenter used a 3-second clip from a podcast to bypass the security check. Has anyone else seen this kind of audio attack in the wild?

Honestly, saw a video where they used a voice clip to get past a basic check. Tbh, if they have your other info like David said, the voice bit just makes the whole act more real.

Seen that demo get passed around. It's a neat trick in a lab, but real world systems aren't that simple. Banks use way more than just a voice print, they check for background noise, device fingerprints, and behavior patterns. A static 3-second clip from a podcast wouldn't get past the layered checks my own bank uses. This feels like fearmongering without showing the full defense.

Man, my buddy's bank got fooled by a scam call that mimicked his voice last month. They had his recent transaction history and sounded just like him, so they reset his password over the phone. It's not just about the voice clip, it's how they use it with other info they steal.
