A guy in the Crunchyroll comment section changed how I watch subs

This was back in March on an old episode thread for Frieren, some random user named PixelKnight kept insisting I was missing half the jokes by reading the subtitles too fast. He broke down one scene where the comedy comes from a pause in the Japanese voice acting, not the translated line, and told me to rewatch it with my eyes closed for 10 seconds. Now I try that with every show, but does anyone else feel like you lose the plot if you blink during action scenes?

Closing my eyes helps me catch the voice acting, but I still miss faces in fights.
