Guy at a Knoxville con said subs are the only real way to watch anime, and I just can't agree
So I was at this small anime con in Knoxville last October, waiting in line for a ramen bowl, and this guy named Dave starts going off about how anyone who watches dubs is basically ruining the art form. He said subs force you to feel the original emotion, but I think dubs let you focus on the animation instead of reading. Now I'm stuck wondering if he had a point or if he was just being a gatekeeper. Where do you all land on this?
My buddy went full sub-only for like two years and then tried to watch a fight scene in Demon Slayer while cooking dinner, burned his hand, and now he's a dub guy again. There's a time and place for both, and acting like one way is the only real way just makes you look silly. Dave probably just wanted to feel like he was in the cool kids club.
