Hit 200 anime series watched and realized I disagree with most of the fan favorites

I just crossed 200 completed shows last month and it made me think the popular stuff like Attack on Titan or Naruto is overrated compared to lesser known series like Haibane Renmei or Kino's Journey that stick with me longer. Am I the only one who finds the huge epic stories less enjoyable than quiet character driven ones?

Read some article the other day saying people waste like 30% of a show because they're scrolling. @oliver_wilson49 is right, it's the same as skipping tutorials and then complaining you're lost. AoT's dialogue carries the whole weight of the story, so missing it means you're basically watching a different show.
