I finally get why some people hate on the 'sub vs dub' debate after a chat with my cousin
My cousin who barely watches anime hit me with 'why do you care so much about the voices, it's just a cartoon' last week. Said he watches everything in English because he can't read subtitles and cook at the same time. Made me realize I've been way too serious about it for years. Has anyone else had a casual fan throw your whole opinion into question like that?

i can't read subtitles and cook at the same time" same energy as me trying to fold laundry while watching anime and missing the whole plot.

Holding on the fact that you fold laundry while watching anime. @the_dylan that is a whole new level of multitasking I didn't know existed. I just pause the show every time I have to look away, no way I'm trusting my brain to follow both at the same time.

yeah i read something about this the other day actually. there was a study that said people who do repetitive tasks like folding laundry or washing dishes can actually focus better on shows or podcasts. it's like your hands are busy but your brain is free to pay attention to the dialogue or subtitles. but i think anime is tricky because you have to read fast and the action scenes move quick. i tried it once with a dub and still missed half the plot because i was trying to figure out which shirt went with which sock. so maybe it works for some people but not for me. i definitely can't do it with subtitles though, that's just asking for trouble.
