I wrote off slice-of-life anime for years, one show changed my mind
For the longest time I thought slice-of-life anime was boring. I was into action shows with big fights and high stakes, so I skipped anything that looked too calm. Last month a friend kept telling me to watch 'Non Non Biyori' and I finally gave in. I figured I'd watch one episode just to prove I was right about it being dull. But something about the slow pace and the quiet jokes actually felt relaxing after a long day of work. By episode 3 I was hooked on just watching these kids live their simple country lives. Now I'm going through the whole series and I get why people love this genre so much. Has anyone else had a show completely flip your opinion on a genre you thought you hated?

kids... exist in the countryside for 24 minutes" used to be my take too, but Non Non Biyori changed that for me.

Right, because nothing says exciting like watching kids... exist in the countryside for 24 minutes. Guess I'll never get those hours back.

I sat through the whole 24 minutes of my cousin's dirt track race video last month. @taylor_hayes25, I feel your pain. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it was just dust and engine noise.
