My friend insisted I watch 'Monster' and I'm glad I listened

For years, my friend Mark kept telling me to watch the anime 'Monster' because he said the slow build was worth it. I finally started it last month and got through the first 15 episodes before it really clicked. Now I'm hooked on the story and characters. Has anyone else had a show recommended that took a while to get into but paid off?

Totally agree with @amy154 about that hospital scene! Honestly, for me it was the whole Grimmer stuff later on that really sealed the deal (his whole story just broke my heart). The slow start is a real hurdle, but man, it builds such a thick, creepy mood.

What was the moment that got you hooked? For me with Monster, it was when Tenma makes that big choice at the hospital. My friend had to push me through the first ten episodes too, but after that I couldn't stop watching.
