TIL a guy at a con in Baltimore said subs are ruining anime and I can't stop thinking about it
I was at a small anime meetup last Saturday in Baltimore and this guy started going off about how subs are ruining anime because you read instead of watching the animation. Then a girl across the table said dubs miss half the jokes and wordplay so subs are the only real way to watch. They went back and forth for like 20 minutes while the rest of us just sat there. I get both sides but I mostly watch subs out of habit since that's how I started back in 2008. The guy's main point was that your eyes are stuck at the bottom of the screen the whole time. So which side do you land on, subs for the accuracy or dubs so you can actually watch the fight scenes?
