Watched Naruto as a kid vs rewatching at 32 - night and day difference

I first saw Naruto when I was 12 and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Just binged the whole original series again over 3 weeks at 32 years old and I cannot believe how different it hits. The character development and themes of loneliness hit way harder now that I've actually dealt with real life stuff. Rock Lee vs Gaara had me tearing up for totally different reasons than when I was a kid. Has anyone else had that weird experience where an old favorite anime feels like a completely new show as an adult?

The way Shikamaru just sits there processing everything was boring to me as a kid, now I'm like "that's my guy, thinking through every angle before making a move." Also never realized how much of a mess Kakashi actually was until I rewatched as an adult, dude was barely holding it together.

OH for SURE @elizabethn56! Shikamaru went from "boring kid who just stares at clouds" to a total genius in my book. And Kakashi, man, rewatching as an adult is wild - that guy was a hot mess of trauma and avoidance, just barely keeping it together with his book and his late arrivals.
