Pulled a working washer motor from a 1992 Maytag last Tuesday

Customer was gonna toss it for a new machine, but that old motor still hummed like new. Has anyone else noticed how those 90s models just don't die like the modern stuff?

Read somewhere those old Maytag motors were built to last 30 years or more.

What's the over/under on how many of these new machines last past the warranty? 30 years is cute, these days you're lucky to get 30 months.

Pulled one out of a 94 model last year and put it in a friends machine that still runs like a top. Those old motors have heavier windings and actual replaceable brushes, not the sealed junk you see now. Hit the bearings with some grease every few years and they just keep going. The newer ones have plastic housings that crack after a few years, nothing like the cast metal on those older models.
