Showerthought: My nephew noticed the dryer hum before I did
I was fixing my brother's dryer that wouldn't heat up. My nephew, who's eight, was watching me and said the motor sounded like his toy car. I checked the heating element first, but he kept pointing at the back panel. When I opened it, I found a sock stuck in the blower wheel, causing a drag. Removing it fixed the heat issue right away. It taught me to listen to what others hear, even if they're not pros. Now I let the kids in the house describe sounds when I start a job. Ever had a young one clue you in on a repair?

Well, that's cool it worked out, but I'm wary of taking repair tips from kids. Their guesses can send you chasing the wrong fix.

It's just a wifi router, not open heart surgery. How bad could a kid's guess really be?

Man, my nine year old niece somehow reset our wifi router last month when the internet went down. We still have no idea what buttons she pushed.
